Sure. We need someone to blame for the incompetence of the Bush administration.

I agree that he fumbled, but I also know he's human, and he's probably not the only one at fault. We all want somewhere to direct the blame, but I think the entire, local, federal, and national preparedness for it, as well as the response were all poorly handled. We can't just blame Brown. Our nation watched on the news for days as Katrina barrelled down on the coast of new orleans. Why was the evacuation plan so inept and ineffective once we knew for sure NewOrleans was going to be hit???? We'd all heard the "worst case scenario" was if it hit new orleans and breeched the levees, but it's like thats as far as the thought was developled and no one followed through on what we'd do if that really happened. Why did the city not have a better plan to folllow, beyond djust hauling people to the convention center and superdome. School busses sat parked miles away, later to be flooded after the levy broke, this certainly is not Brown's fault is it?? We shouldn't expect Michael brown to know every single person in every single city in america where a disaster could potentially hit and have a specific plan--- his role is to set into motion the national response. It's the local and state governments roles to understand its limitations, needs, and capabilities in dealing with something like this. In my opinion the LOCAL disaster preparedness and response was probably just as crappy as that of Michael Brown and FEMA. From news reports it seems like he could have done a lot more, and taken the whole situation much more seriously, but he is human, and screws up just like the rest of us.

As for punishment, I guess I could care less what happens to him so long as who ever takes over learns form this and NEVER lets anything that bad happen on American soil again. Katrina was a natural disater but it turned into a man-made catastrophe. There needs to be more than just one finger pointed in all of this.

Only if Ray Nagin and Governor Blank-o are also punished for their respective failures. Because it is up to local government to provide the first 3-5 days of relief.

Mississippi was hit just as hard, but they apparently had competent officials, so didn't have the same problems.

Yes, FEMA made mistakes, but that does not mean punishment is necessary. That's just silly.

Michael Brown is a scapegoat. Do you really think he held all the power in the administration to allow for no rescue attempts?

If the Katrina situation is anyone's fault it is the idiots who didn't head the warnings knowing good & well what was going to happen. & don't give me that crap about people not being physically or financially able to leave, because busses & shelters were supplied long before Katrina hit.

Actually, more of the blame goes on the mayor (who was just re-elected) and the state and local governments for not doing anything in the beginning. Why does everyone blame the Federal government for everything? What about local responsibility?

No, I don't. I have NO sympathy for the Katrina victims. They knew at LEAST a week ahead of time that they should be evacuating and DID NOT GO. (I was there, I know!) Also, they all KNEW they were living in a city BELOW SEA LEVEL. If that's not stupid, please clarify what is then!

He already left his job.
Wow, you emotional liberals sure do like a good lynching, don't you?
Some kind of scapegoat for everything in your lives, isn't there?

LOL "I'm not a liberal stupid"
Nice comeback. Why is it that liberals always resort to name-calling at every opportunity? Is there a problem with making a logical irrefutable statement?

Maybe, but i think the morons who refused to evacuate after being told so should be punished if Michael Brown is.

They way that he reacted and directed the relief effort was a disgrace to out country. I dont think he should be punished physicly. Butif we ever manage to get his e-mail adress everyone who knew someone who died should send him a letter talking about that persons life.

I hope this helps!

Don't forget the politicians and environmentalists who prevented the Corps of Engineers from updating and upgrading the levees. If that had occured, Orleans might still be dry.
