the N64 was an amazing game system (i still love mine), but it is getting really old and outdated. i can't find anymore games for mine, and the controllers suck. i've got through like 5 in my N64 lifetime. but as for reliability, i would definately trust it. i got a launch console and like i said, it works fine. just save up for a Nintnedo Wii and then buy games through the virtual console thing. the games will be like $5 (some rumor going around at Nintendo.com), so that's not a bad deal at all.

i personally am going to get an Xbox 360, because i love graphics and hi-definition.

The nintendo 64 was/is a great system, the games associated with it were FUN, the controls and settings were simple and quite powerful at the time. The older games needed a memory pack that plugged into the controller in order to save progress, so that may or may not be nessecary. You also may need an R/F adapter which is another cheap part. Games that come with a system are good. A system without games becomes a decoration rather than an appliance. Have you owned a video game system before, or is this your first time having one in your home. if it is, just be careful, video games are addicting. =D

That sounds cool. In fact, my first Nintendo that I had was used, and it worked great for me. I am not saying to get it based on my answer, but the odds are good. You should go for it. Nothing ventured, nothing gain. Make sure you check it out first though.

It's antiquated. Have the guy plug it in and make sure it works before buying
