The worst thing that you can do is LIE. Don't say things like, "It's me, not you" or "I like you.. but in a SPECIAL way" or "We can still be friends!"
Just simply tell the guy that after going out with him you realized that you aren't really interested in him. Thank him for his time and the opportunity to get to know him and tell him that you need to move on.

well certainly you couldn't say no to when he asked you out but you can't stay with him if your not into him just tell him "hey listen i don't think that i like you that much and i want us to be over" and then you say "im sorry for putting you through this trouble and braking your heart because i didn't like you when you did first ask me out and im just so sorry" then you say "we can still be freinds and talk but not like boy freind and girlfreind...BYE" then you walk away but then when he gets another girl please don't get jealous! that's what always happens

why don't you just tell him your not ready for a relationship and need some space. He should get the hint! plus you will spare his ego a little by blame shifting.

just tell him the relationship is not working for you and that you guy's will be better off as friends and if that don't work tell him you not interested in going out with him anymore
