He attended grammar school in Stratford on Avon in England. There he studied a typical curriculum of the day which included math, science, Greek, Latin, and history. There is no record or indication that Shakespeare went beyond 8th grade. He left Startford and went to London where he joined an acting company and where he acted in contemporary plays and began writing his own. Unlike most writers of his day, Shakespeare enjoyed success as a writer during his lifetime.
