"politics" has more to do with the act of getting elected in a democratic system than it does with governing.
The point of having a government, in the (paraphrased) words of our consitution, is to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, and to secure liberty.
None of those have much if anything to do with politics. :)

Not caring is an effective tool in election time; it means you must capitulate to a pro-war, pro-business party who cares nothing about you or your family but wants to line the pockets of themselves, thier pals and cronies. That squandering of a golden opportunity has helped to disorganize the forces working towards helping the inevitable downfall of capitalist class rule.
