I've told everyone I'll quit smoking this weekend. I'm thinking about rewarding myself when I do, but I don't know if it will work. Once I get the reward for myself, I'll probably just start again.

my brother got an xbox 360 as his reward to himself. it works because he loves it so much and he has someone to take it away from him if he starts again.

My father quit while he was in the hospital after an appendectomy. But I don't think you want that. Some people keep a jar that they put all the money into that they would have spent on cigarettes. As expensive as they are, that will add up quickly. That is money you can save and spend on something you really want. Another thing you can do is keep chewing gum- and I don't mean Nicorette either. Just something you can stick in your mouth instead of a cigarette. Or you can decide on something else to do whenever you get the urge to light up. I don't smoke and never did, but my 'nervous energy thing' is clean.

This coming Christmas will be the 2-year anniversary that I quit smoking...just laid them down and gave them away to my friends.
My reward is how incredible I feel, how much more my senses
are enhanced, the amazing lung capacity as I once had when I
was younger (presmoker) and not to mention the HUGE amount
of cash that I can spend on other things, not cigarettes. Good luck!

I didn't really reward myself, but my friend that convinced me to quit got a lot closer to me because I quit and I've been smoke free for almost 2 years, and his friendship was well worth it. I'm also proud of myself for quitting cold turkey, no special treatments, gums, patches, or therapies for me! And if a reward is not worth it to you, think of it this way, a longer, happier, healthier life SHOULD be worth it to you!

Yup I rewarded myself by eating and gaining 20 pounds, which I am now losing. I swear, when you quit one you get addicted to another.

yes - with the money I saved not smoking I bought a new truck !! I figured out I save about $300 per month not buying tobacco products so I used this money for truck payments. Yes it really worked and my new truck did not stink like cigarettes in side.
