Internet is a world wide access to information that is shared globally....like google and yahoo and whatever else you can access from your browser.
Intranet is more for confidential use within the company. It usually has the url https and can be accessed only within the privacy of the company and its network.
Extranet is a combination of both intranet and internet. It uses internet technology but is usually within a firewall of the company. So its a private network but they use internet technology to share files, share news, and they use encrypted data that is shared among the company and its users.
EDIT:
Internet example: http://www.google.com
Intranet example is when you work for a company and they have an online access within the company to enter your time card. You can only access it at work or within the companys network.
Extranet example is like online banking. You enter a password, and most of the data is encryped so it prevents hacking. The bank is sharing information with their clients.

An intranet is a private computer network that uses Internet protocols, network connectivity, and possibly the public telecommunication system to securely share part of an organization's information or operations with its employees. Sometimes the term refers only to the most visible service, the internal website. The same concepts and technologies of the Internet such as clients and servers running on the Internet protocol suite are used to build an intranet. HTTP and other Internet protocols are commonly used as well, especially FTP and e-mail. There is often an attempt to use Internet technologies to provide new interfaces with corporate 'legacy' data and information systems.
A very common use of the terms "Intranet" and "Extranet" is to design the "private part" of a website, where "registered-on-site people" can navigate. The "login page" and the authentication mechanisms enable them. Generally in the sense that Intranet is for "employee exclusive contents", and Extranet for "customer/supplier exclusive contents".

Internet: An electronic network of computers that includes nearly every university, government, and research facility in the world. Also included are many commercial sites. It started with four interconnected computers in 1969 and was known as ARPAnet.
Intranet: An intranet is a restricted-access network that works like the Web, but isn't on it. Usually owned and managed by a company, an intranet enables a company to share its resources with its employees without confidential information being made available to everyone with Internet access.

internet and Internet are the same word, you can use it with or without capitalization. Quote wikipedia, "the Internet is a collection of interconnected computer networks". It is technically different from "the web", which is " a collection of interconnected documents" (web pages).
An intranet, as Wikipedia puts it, is "a private computer network that uses Internet protocols, network connectivity, and possibly the public telecommunication system to securely share part of an organization's information or operations with its employees"
The internet is the worldwide computer network that many of us use daily. An Intranet is a network that is run by one company for their own operations.
