I'm not gay, and people in general are weird......
But I'm going to the parade for the good food........LOL.......
Here is your answer:
In June 1969, a group of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people rioted following a police raid on the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City. The Stonewall riots are generally considered to be the beginning of the modern gay rights movement, as it was the first time in modern history that a significant body of LGBT people resisted arrest.
These marches were repeated over the years, and similar marches began to be held in other cities throughout the world. The marches became known as Gay Pride marches.
A activist also originated the idea for a week-long series of events around Pride Day which became the genesis of the annual Pride celebrations that are now held around the world.

First of all gay people are not weird! Secondly Gay Pride Day and the corresponding parades are held on the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots that happend in 1969. The Stonewall Riot in New York City's Greenwich Village was considered to be the birth of the Gay Rights Movement. Read about it.

It is to make the public aware of the gay community. Many people, such as yourself, are uneducated about different communities, and thus judge others because they are different. Without diversity, we would be a bunch of idiots walking around, looking exactly like everyone else. Get to know other people, I bet you'll learn something. Gay people aren't weird. Well, they're no weirder than anybody else. Everyone is a little weird.

Get a life stop the gay bashing.
There are all sorts of parades all over the country.
We have an apple parade, so what?
Give it a rest/ Let people live the way they want to live.
Most men I know who hate gay's have an issue with their
sexuality. Maybe you are not sure of yours.

Why do you have satisfaction approximately being who you're? perhaps because of the consistent conflict for trouble-free human rights, overcoming many stumbling blocks society has positioned on them via their sexual decision? What if the tables have been became and it became the immediately woman/guy who had to consistently be on the protection? I wager then you definately might desire a "immediately satisfaction day", would not you?

Anybody who considers themselves to be a "minority" or in a "protected class" or frankly anybody who maybe is trying to convince everybody else that they are "as worthy as others" (is this due to self-doubt on the part of gay people?.....just asking the question here), spends a whole lot of time convincing the world (and themselves) that they are worthy of being loved. If you will notice, most members of white supremacist groups that feel a need to draw attention to themselves suffer from low self-esteem. I suspect the same psychology is going on here.

God Forbid Gays don't announce their presence to the world on a yearly basis. God forbid they just blend into society and function like humans as the rest of us do.
