are the opposite sex? A gay couple I know, Russell and "Aunt" Steve, are raising a young child. For Mother's day they prepare a
special dinner and dessert and honor Auntie Steve for the holiday.
Is this a common practice and does it eventually confuse the child?

Gays shouldn't be alowed to raise children. The freaking world is hard enough without having to determine if they have two mommies or two daddies. Talk about confusing. Jesus, this is a sick world we live in.

first of all any parent who confuses their child into thinking a man is a woman or a woman is a man something is wrong with them and yes this does affect the child mentally and emotionally why would you want to corrupt the child's brain just be honest eventually they are gonna find out anyway what would you rather honesty or for the child to hate you the rest of his life. the people you are talking about i hope they are not trying to pick the child's lifestyle because not explaining that the child has to daddy's is telling hI'm its alright to be with the same sex i have nothing against gay people because im gay but let the child make his own decisions

Why Auntie Steve?

Anyway, children adapt and take things as normal. Its only the bigotry they face that causes problems. Children just need love, guidance, and security from whoever that may be.
