I agree. Get rid of the royal family. They are no use to no-one. Not to workers or capitalists. It should be the one and only thing in witch both of you would unite in.
It really amazes, how the english peolple accepts some dozen of human beings just party with style and luxury all their lives from birth to grave, and all is payed from taxes. A dream life for nothing.

Maybe I don't understand the system in the UK (which is always quite possible) but as far as I can tell, it isn't like the royals have that much to do with the political system anymore. It sounds like Parliament and the Prime Minister make the decisions. I think it is neat that you have a group of people who represent the success of your country and can be admired. Certainly better than the celebrities that are "worshipped" here in the US.

i am a republican too. my advice- move 2 america. no monarchy here, but unfortunately, we have not the best president in the world. Bush is a republican, but not many people agree with his policies, like me. Ronald Reagan (an old president, died recently) was awesome, though. he wuz rep. too. u might want 2 research these guys (as well as Reagan):
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
John F. Kennedy
the above were great presidents, even tho they were democrats.

From across the pond, it seems to be an anachronism that belongs to feudal times.
But it certainly is big with tabloids and their readers, for some bizzare reason.
I'm just glad we decided to withdraw from the purview of the monarchy 230 years ago.

Absolutely not, they are an integral part of our history, culture, country and future. Good god man, why would you want to do anything, which in any way made us more like the United States?

I would be in favour of sending the entire royal family to exile in the Highlands of Scotland - but I'm not sure what the Scottish Nationalists would think of that idea!!! Or could we send them back to Germany, do you think?
