Well, I'm going into 7th grade and my mom's all like "You can't wear make up until your 16!!" and I'm like "why" and she tells me because it clogs up your pores... Well, I know mascara doesn't, and I don't think eyeliner does... And for one, I don't know how to put it into words, and two, after I convince her, what kind and colors should I get? I'm very shy, even around my mom and it even took me a lot of courage just to ask her if I could get side bangs!
Well, I have dirty blonde hair and eyes that are normally brown, but turn black during the day...
Everyone tells me that I'm pretty and don't need make up, but it's annoying the crap outta me and I have no clue what to say...
Anyway... what kind should I get after I ask my mom if I can at least wear mascara?

go for a more natural look. black mascara will most likely be too much for her. ask her if you can wear a "natural brown" shade of mascara. and maybe some translucent powder to control shine. also lip gloss isn't really make-up and it looks cute!
this will probably be enough. you probably don't really need the make-up, you just want it. try the look out and see how it goes.
there's nothing worse than a girl who cakes on clown make-up and thinks she looks older. you want to look good, not old!
so just be careful w/ quantity and shade. stay in the neutral zone and your mom will probably come around!
Good Luck :D

You should go for natural make up.

Face:If you have an uneven skin tone or acne, even things out with tinted moisturizer. Get an oil free one with atleast SPF 15, although SPF 30 is better. The american cancer society has said that wearing sunscreen helps prevent the risk of skin cancer, and a tinted moisturizer just tmakes you want to wear it more. I bought a tube that lasts me about 9 months at Wal-mart last week for about $11, which isn't very expensive. If you don't need to even out your skin, still use oil free moisturizer with sun screen. Skin cancer is NOT cool.

Eyes: If you're looking at Mascara, get something that won't fall on your lashes. Raccoon eyes = BAD! I can't say I like eyeliner on younger girls, but a little bit of natural mascara is okay. If your hair is light brown, use a dark brown mascara, unless your eyebrows are black, in which case, use black mascara. Ask your mom what her favorite product is, or ask her if you can use free samples, if she has any. Maybelline has some pretty good mascara in a pink tube with a green top.

Eyes/Cheeks: You don't need eyeshadow, but a little bit of blush or bronzermight be okay. Ask a friend for help picking out your color.

Lips: Bonnebell has cheap lip gloss that comes in all sorts of varities. You can graduate from Lipsmakers to something a little more sophicated. You can find it at drug stores for less that $5. They also make a pretty clear mascara, if you already have dark lashes and just want to highlight them.

*** Also, middle school is the time to wear glitter! You can buy roll-on stuff, or it as a lotion. Its just something fun, and you can't really even call it make-up. If nothing else, glitter and lipgloss can make you feel more dressed up.

Good luck!

Like everyone said.....less is more, guys are really not into girls with lots of makeup! Don't go behind your mom's back and put it on at your friends, she WILL find out..trust me they always do that is why they are MOM'S!! Make a com premise with her.....start with lip gloss and mascara..(they used to have a clear mascara that I wore when I was your age and it did the trick but did not make me look to made up as black mascara will do) if she lets you do that and you promise not to do any more then that, maybe she will let you get a mini-makeup lesson at a counter when you turn 15 and they she can be there and you will learn how to put it on right and how not to look like you are wearing to much makeup for your age....and don't worry you have the rest of your life to wear makeup and the natural look is in at this time so embrace your beauty don;t ruin your face with all that GUNK! Good luck

If you have great skin then you probably do not need foundation...if you have acne skin then Clinique makes a great foundation for that type of skin and it last 4x as long as the drug store brands. I like mascara but get something "regular" and not the thick lash type. 7th graders shouldn't look like college girls so keep it light...maybe some of the models you see in young teen magazines is what you should go for. You could also talk to your mom about getting a free make-over at the mall department stores for a couple of reasons: 1) someone who knows what you are doing can teach you about application and color and 2) your mom can see it on you before she agrees. Good luck!

Your mom sounds very controlling. If she dosen't let you wear makeup, you could borrow some from a friend, or buy some with a friend, and take it 2 school, and put it on when you get there, and take it off at the end of the school day. that way she wont know. Black eyeliner & black mascara would contrast well with your hair. Since your eyes are dark, a light pink with shimmer eyeshadow , or white shimmer eyeshadow. Good luck. :)

i use a foundation called Pure by Maybelline that uses water, not oil, so it doesn't clog your pores. You should get a color pretty close to your skin tone, so it blends well.

there's also a company called Physicians Formula that you can get at normal stores like CVS etc. It is specially made to keep your skin healthy and not clog hyour pores.

i like GreatLash mascara too. The Fan (i forget who makes it but it's in a red tube) also works well without clumping.

First with makeup less is more! O.K.
When applying you makeup keep it simple, try a featherlash mascara, it won't give you a spiderleg look, as for your eyes stay with fresh colors, like pastels, pinks, blues, you're young you don't need to hide behind a ton of makeup, and good luck.

Make up is always nice but stick with natural tones. Browns and blacks. If you push for blue eyeshadow, she'll probably be against it but if you stick with nice earth tones it will be easier. BTW good make up is not harmful. Do NOT buy make up that you can get from a drug store. Stick with Sephora or department store counters like Clinique, Estee Lauder, MAC, Dior etc.

trust me, dont make the same mistakes i made.
i wore too much makeup too young. i wish i had listened to my mother but i didnt. and now, i cant even go out of the house without thinking i look weird without make up on. it has clogged up my pores, and now i get acne, and even redness from it. and like if i was to go to special events, i look the same as i do everyday, nothing special. wait, for the times you need it. not everyday.

Point out to your mum next time or if someone says "you don't need make-up" . That a lot of well known people who proberly don't need make-up still wear make-up!
Run of a list of stars, muscians etc. Find the pictures if you have to, proving they wear make-up.
Well I did just that UUUUUmmmmm, years & years ago & it worked on my mum.
