I can't find any other information about the play. It was listed as the winner of the ESPY for the most outrageous play in 1993.

I saw the game. The rabbit darted from the 40 yard line. At the 5 yard line, he changed direction slightly and ran into the end zone. He paused for severals seconds in the end zone while the fans cheered, they proceeded off of the field.

Michigan was losing to Purdue (at Purdue in 1992) 17-7 at halftime. As I recall from watching this on TV more than 20 years ago, the crowd was really into it, Purdue had momentum, and Michigan was facing a critical play when a rabbit darted onto the field, delaying the game for a couple minutes and providing some comic relief. The first play after the rabbit left the stadium was a good one for Michigan, and Michigan went on to score the last 17 points of the game, winning 24-17.

Now I'm as curious as you. I looked and looked and nothing. Maybe it's some kind of government conspiracy.
