Luke, Vader and the emperor still don't add up to much. I think the rebellion still crushes the empire with Luke allied with Vader. Jedis ain't all that. Luke did blow up the Death Star though. Noone else seemed able to do it. Hmmmmmmm........

The three people left in the universe who have any control of the force all team up and it wouldn't make any difference? You're crazy! The rebelion couldn't do crap all against those three, and so many people from the rebelion would trade sides if their hero luke skywalker told them to, makiing the darkside even stronger and the rebelion even weaker. I think they would have controlled the universe with an unwaivering fist of dominence.

Yes, I think that if Luke had joined Vader that he and his father would have bumped off the emperor and smashed the rebellion easily. Vader was always constrained by the emperor and his laws. If Vader had achieved power, he would have ruled with absolute authority and smashed any in his way. Luckily, Luke was strong (even though he did often seem like a wimp) and was able to resist so the universe was saved. :)

He could have made a big difference but then eventually the Rebellion would overcome. No one to take his place like Vader left Luke and Leia.

hell yeah,if Luke turned to the darkside,no one could stop him,Vader and the emperor..the only Jedi left would be Leia and phhh to that..if Luke didn't blow the death star, all planets would have suffered the same fate as alderran..watch star wars episode 3,revenge of the sith, when anakin turned to the darkside,no one could stop one,Jedi or Friend..if Luke turned, all would have been lost.

Well if he was ever going to turn to the dark side it probably would have been on the second Death Star and he decided not to about 30 minutes before they blew it all to hell. If he had decided to turn and had stayed on the Death Star he'd probably be dead, so no, he wouldn't matter all that much.

Although then the Jedi wouldn't have been resurrected so it probably would have made a difference AFTER the empire lost.

If you read some of the books, the emperor comes back to life and Luke turns to the dark side for a bit.

I think you are wrong, because if Luke would have turned, the Empire's vast numbers and weapon superiority would have destroyed the rebels. After all, what you saw for the rebels was everything they had, no reserves or anything. That was not all the Empire had, but it was a good portion of it.

yes it would have tipped the scale for the dark side. Luke skywalker came from a powerful jedi and his genes had great potential it is an absolute must that he use his power for the good side.

Yes, it would have made it a different story. The end was about Luke's choice and Anakin's redemption.

if luke turned to the dark side (which he should have), princess leia would have been the one to turn luke back to the good side. This was the original plan back when the star wars first started. i would havel liked to see more star wars movies.
