It is the law of football. when you win a game, you will get 3 points even if you have scored 30 goals. when a team draws it will get 1 point and if it looses it will get 0 points.
but now imagine (just imagine) that after the first round, one team has most points and the 2 other teams have equall points. for example Germany has 9 points and Costa rica and Polland have both 4 points. which teams will be in the 2nd round? sure one of them is Germany but about the 2 other teams (Costa rica and Polland) a team with more goals will be in 2nd round. for example if Polland has 5 goals and Costa rica has 3 goals, Polland will be in second round

The score for each victory is 3, althought they score 20 goals, it's the rule, but the number of goals will be considerd when 2 teams have the same score.
I hope this helps!

Each win = 3 points, tie= 1point, loss=0. Has nothing to do with the number of goals scored or how much you win by.

It's not for the goals they accumulate it's for the ranking:

3 points for Victory.

1 point for Draw.

0 points for Lose.

Three points a victory, 1 a draw, 0 defeat. Your goals have a tiebreaker value...if ur team and another one have the same number of point, then they check ur scored goals.

The points are rewarded as such during any Football (Soccer) match
3 points for a Win
1 point for a Tie
2 points for a win in extra time (due to a Tie)
In Hockey there are only 2 points awarded for a win, but Football (Soccer) is the Number One watched sport in the world. So it deserves an extra point, (just kidding).

heres the system:
Win = 3 pts
tie (draw) = 1 pt
Loose = 0 pts

They only count up the goals if teams have the same number of total pts

I think the point system is not directly related to the number of goals. It has to do with other aspects of the game as well.
