With dial up, your IP changes every time you log on line. don't be too concerned about someone hacking you because it takes some time unless they are just very lucky.

There are two software applications that i know of that can hide your true IP address. The first is Tor, an onion router. The Tor network is made up of several servers. Using Tor, when you request a webpage, your request is not sent directly to the desired website. Instead, your request is randomly bounced off across Tor servers and ultimately reaches the desired website. The website will only see the IP address of the last server and not your IP address. The link is http://tor.eff.org/ Tor is compatiable with IE 6, Firefox and Opera.

The second software application is JAP. JAP uses another technique. JAP acts like a proxy server. When using JAP, all the websites you surf to will only see JAP's IP address and not yours. The link is http://anon.inf.tu-dresden.de/index_en.html. JAP is very powerful.

To test to see if the services are working, follow these steps:
1. go to www.whatismyip.com the website will display your IP address.
2. Next connect to either Tor or JAP
3. Vist again www.whatismyip.com
4. if the service is working this time the website will give you a IP address other than your own.

PC World, a very popular computer and technology magazine has an excellent article about Tor at
