Some good answers here. I agree with what MnG wrote.
I find, when people care to the point of obsession.....this is where you enter the zone of TOO MUCH. When it becomes dangerous and/or fatal...'stalker-ish'...almost 'insane' in a way. This is when the 'caring too much' warning signal should go off. When your only focus is the subject of your 'care' and nothing else matters.
Now, that being said, I am a pretty intense person when it comes to caring. I put myself out there and give it 100%...never less. It can be intimidating and I've learned this the 'hard way'. I can be like a puppy excited to see people, wagging my tail and panting like a freak ( I never go as far as humping legs though *wink*) So, I've learned to calm down....to not come on so strong. Does this change my level of 'caring'? Heck no! Call me many things but never call me one who doesn't care too much. Because I do. And it is a good thing. As long as you care for all the right reasons......(and I usually do) it is a wonderful thing to care too much.

I think different people express their love in different ways. And I do think that at times.......people are at differing levels of emotional maturity. There is a lot to be said about emotional experience. You learn how to and not to react to various situations. Can one care too much? Perhaps upon finding that one thing that brings them more happiness than anything ever has thus far in their life, they may begin to center their uninverse around that one person or thing. All else in their life loses its value and importance and that love becomes the one purpose by which they live.
Is this caring too much? The fear is that if that love was ever stripped away......where would the person be left then? Too let all else in your life dwindle in importance for just one thing can be dangerous. Thus enter......emotional maturity. Experience shows us how to balance our lives so that we can truly care to that passionate level like no other, without losing sight of the importance of all else around us. Once that balance is achieved.........no...you can't care too much. It's right.....it's just right. :)

No, if you are truly showing concern about another's well-being. There could come a point where you sacrafice alot of yourself for another, but if you truly love that person you might be willing to go through with it. Caring should have some seperatness from worrying though. You can care for someone or something and take time, effort, and resources to ensure it's continued growth and well-being, but this doesnt mean that you should pull out your hair from concern over it.

There was a time I would have said no.
After working with alcoholics, I now say YES.
You can only do so much for a person. They will choose their own path, and sometimes it hurts so much to stand by and watch them destroy themselves and their loved ones.
(wow, i need a beer!)
