Assuming managing people is the only thing that you do, yes, pretty much. However most employers expect their managers to be experts in the field. So a manager that manages computer programmers would be expected to have a different skill set than a manager that manages a fast food restaurant.

I don't agree. Maybe managing a Burger King or a bowling alley is the same in Indiana as in India but the skills needed to manage an I.T. company are not the same as those needed to manage in Pharmaceuticals/Biotech or investment banking.

It's not enough to know how to manage, you have to know the business you are managing. Just as it isn't enough to know how to teach to be a teacher - you actually have to know your subject as well.

Yes, I agree beign a manager is pretty much the same thing, no matter what it is you're doing.

yes no matter what you are in charge of something but what you do, how you do it etc. that all changes
ex: a campground manager
business manager
