I suggest you get a anti-anxiety/tranquilizer like .5 or 1.0 mg. Xanax. Ask your Doctor about it. If not that, Valium is a good one also. Although a numbing cream or topical application may take the "pain" away of the needle, it won't ease your anxiety. Tensing up can cause a needle to hurt more, and you don't want to get a bruised muscle or something because of that. I have had so many needles stuck in me over the years after having Open Heart surgery and such, that I don't even worry about needles. However; I've never really suffered fear of needles since I got over it as a kid. However; I do take anti-anxiety medications, and even if I went in for a blood test or a shot, I sit there as if nothing happens. It definately takes the edge off. Talk to your Doctor about it, and may be a good "go to" plan whenever you have appointed blood tests or shots planned.

Oral anesthetics that contain benzocaine might do something for ya. Crushed aspirin would probably help a little. Ice cube to the area will also help a bit. If you happen to be a drug user and have some cocaine, it is a very powerful topical anesthetic; it has been used medically in the past.
Lidocaine solution is what a doctor would use, injected hypodermically with a syringe and needle. I wasn't aware that you could get it at the pharmacy without a scrip, though. Lidocaine solution comes with or without epinephrine in it. Don't use epi on your toes, though, cuz it restricts circulation.

Extra Strength Toothache Medication. Directly into & onto the area. Wait a few minutes, do your removal, then rinse with water, followed by rinsing with Betadine solution or Peroxide or Alcohol (burns-last resort). Let the area dry, & use antibiotic ointment with a bandage or leave it open. What ever is best for you! Good Luck!

Please be careful! Use only a clean needle and clean the area before and after. There are things you can buy to disinfect AND numb, but I'm not sure what the brand names are. Look for something with a -caine in it. For instance solarcaine, lidocaine and novacaine are all pain relivers. Look for something with that suffix.

If you can walk to the store or drive, or whatever, it's obviously not excruciating.
Just put some ice on it and numb it, a bit. Or go to the doc and have it taken care of by a professional.

Well I'm not a drinker but in old west days they drank whiskey to numb the pain. The other suggestions about -caine's would probably be the best numbing idea.

I get lidocaine (sp) from the pharmacy, its a topical analgesic but I don't think it can be used on open skin. This question would be best to ask a pharmacist

First of you should not be doing this yourself...go to the ER...They will give you something to numb that foot...
If you insist on doing it yourself...use ice to freeze your feelings.
Then use Proxide...steralize that pin.
