guy and girl in their 30's really too young to remember the mod era but want to make an effort for this party

I was a mod (still am at heart!)so maybe I can help. The bloke should wear sta-press trousers, parka, dessert boots, or if its hot, he could wear a Fred Perry polo shirt and leave the parka at home. As for the girl, put pale foundation on, pinky white lipstick, and really play up your eyes with back kohl, or if you have a steady hand, liquid eyeliner. Hair should ideally be cut into a graduated bob (think Mary Quant) or you could get a way with a pixie cut, if you have long hair, try and wear it dead straight with a hair band.
You could wear a shift dress, or ski pants worn with a Fred Perry polo, or an "old ladies" twin set.
The girl should wear slingbacks, sort of pointy toed shoes, not too high, and if she's wearing ski pants, they are best worn with suede hush puppies or deck shoes.

Watch the film Quadrophenia, it's not that bad actually and will give you a really good idea about the Mods and Rockers and what they wore, rode and listened to.
If you can't get hold of a copy here's a few tips
Blokes: - Smart suit, strange colour (purple pinstripe, cream, etc) kipper tie. Winkle picker shoes
Ladies: - White mini dress, Black belt, white boots.
The ladies might just be a fantasy of mine to be honest, it's a long time since I saw the film.

I recommend for that authentic look you should start with long-haired wigs. Add leather jackets, oily jeans. Sprinkle with assorted patches and studs and top off with a ride on a BSA or Triumph motorbike.
You'll be the talk of the party, I guarantee it.

I would ask the person who is hosting the party. They may be using a fancy dress shop for their clothes and then you could use the same place.
I think it was a bit like liam and noel gallager used to dress? I am not sure.

Skin Tight Jeans turned up-DMs with union jack t-shirt and braces for him and a black/white check dress( usually 4 lge checks) for her with of course winkle picker shoes(really pointy toes).

pin striped suit and white t-shirt for the guy. polka dot(preferably pink and black) flowing skirt and basic top for the girl.
