In an effort to make it look as if he was actually accomplishing something after the 9/11 attacks. If we all remember correctly it was not Saddam Hussein who was instrumental in those attacks, but rather Osama bin Laden. here we are 4.5 years into this and still no bin Laden. All the emphasis is on Iraq. When did Iraq came into this picture? It's the classic bait and switch tactic used by so many con men prior to Bush.

Bush never declared war on Iraq. The President can't declare war on any nation. What Bush did was use the War Powers Resolution of 1973.
"The purpose of the War Powers Resolution is to ensure that Congress and the President share in making decisions that may get the U.S. involved in hostilities. Portions of the War Powers Resolution require the President to consult with Congress prior to the start of any hostilities as well as regularly until U.S. armed forces are no longer engaged in hostilities (Sec. 3); and to remove U.S. armed forces from hostilities if Congress has not declared war or passed a resolution authorizing the use of force within 60 days (Sec. 5(b)). Following an official request by the President to Congress, the time limit can be extended by an additional 30 days (presumably when "unavoidable military necessity" requires additional action for a safe withdrawal)."
To the person that mentioned 9/11, Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with those attacks. Stop watching Fox News, it will actually drain what intelligence you have left. what is left

Well first off I agree with the person who said that the president himself cannot declare war on any country, we are not in a dictatorship. I cant tell you why the war on Iraq was declared, my fiance has been there for 10 months fighting it and I STILL dont know. I think there are a lot of things that the government doesnt tell the Americans in this country about. He says that it is because they kill all these innocent people and all that, but what does that have to do with us? I guess our government feels that because we have the resources and the ability that we should help the Iraqi people. We are so knee deep in the war that we can't back down now though. It doesn't matter why it started anymore, what matters now is getting Iraq to a stable point so it can take care of itself without our help.

9/11.
Would you rather have them blowing up buildings and cars there or here in the US?
That statement there is a good example of how ignorant people are. If you remenmber there was nobody involved in the 9/11 attack from Iraq. It was Saudi Arabia.
Saddam is a horrible person but why attack his country. At no time did that man or the country he led have the capabilities to attack us.
An evil dictator is someone who only believes his beliefs are the right thing. For some reason it seems nobody is looking over and into our own backyard. wake up people....countless people have died...sons and daughters are maimed for life..for what..to fight a war with someone that did nothing to us. All because some politicians feel their way is the only and right way

For the reasons he told us over and over before the war. It's pretty straightforward. No hidden agendas. No Clintonian wag the dog actions.

I think it was money. Saddam was selling his oil for Euros as in the European currency. which was devaluing the US dollar. If you want to know what motivates people think this: money or sex
