The glasses i'm referring to are often used in shooting ranges, paintball, and construction.

Although your brain generally filters it out, the human eye has a fair amount of chromatic aberration. Blue and violet light in particular tend not to come to a sharp focus, so filtering it out adds to visual acuity. At greater distances, it also helps cut haze, as short wavelengths (blue end of the spectrum) are scattered more than long wavelengths.

The human eye is designed to see in daylight. We are descended from diurnal critters. Our night vision is very poor by the standards of a nocturnal critter like a cat or owl.
Because of our predeliction for daylight vision, our eyes are more perceptive in the yellow end of the spectrum, and less so in the blue end. By tinting the light to yellow, shooting lenses make our vision more perceptive to movement, contrast and shape ... we see "targets" better,
