just tell him... say it in a half joking kinda way.... that will break the ice.... im a rather direct person, so i did it that way with my ex... after laughing for a minute he went about his business and i said, "no seriously, i hate that shirt....you need to change." he didnt take it badly... this became a routine....not long after he would just wait while we were getting ready to go out somewhere for me to start getting ready, and have me pick out and approve his clothing choices.... it was kinda fun

Either go shopping with him and pick out things you like and direct him towards it or buy him clothes you think will look good on him for birthdays/christmas etc. You can make comments like "You would look so much better in ...".

Just suggest something else and tell him how much you think he is hot when he wears that. Most men don't care what they wear, they really just want to make you happy.
