ok, i have to read the genesis for an english class, and as i was reading it, i saw 'avenged sevenfold.' did they take their name from that?

Yep! there a none religous band but they did get it from the bible. if you go to Avengedsevenfold.com and read there Bio it'll tell you all about them.

they are not non secular, yet non secular. there's a distinction. I´d assume so, and there seem to be alot of websites that would back me up on this :) It´s from the story of Cain and Abel, right? Something about God saying that anyone who hurt Abel because of his murdering Cain would have vengeance taken on them sevenfold...

That or they stole it from another source which took it from Genesis. (For example, the White Wolf Vampire gaming system has used that same curse as the origin for vampires.)
