1 - Don't buy a walker. If you already have one, dump it. It delays the baby from learning how to crawl and walk.

2 - Provide plenty of opportunities to crawl (large open carpet or padded area on the floor with all toys out of reach).

3 - Crawl around yourself so baby can watch and learn.

Not all babies seem to want to crawl.

My first just stayed on his belly for a while. Then he learned to sit, stand... and the rest is history. My second child did crawl of his own accord.

It probably would be best not to force the baby. They usually decide what they want with little prompting anyway - one of the many mysteries of babyhood as a parent I haven't figured out yet.

You can put a favorite toy just a little ways away from him/her on the floor when the baby is rocking. You can even sit with the toy and call to the baby, like "Come to mommy." My son decided to crawl because he saw something he wanted, so I think it's a good idea.

Wait until she/he is ready. Babies will do what they are ready for developmentally when they are mature enough. But some babies never crawl in the usual sense (all fours, stomach up off the floor). They will all find a way to get around, but some will creep (push along the floor on the stomach) or scoot around in a sitting position.

My son is nearly 8 months old and still refuses to learn to crawl. He learned to roll over (consistently) 3 or 4 weeks ago... He cruises around in his walker like theres no tomorrow. He'll run your toes over if your dont get your feet out of the way. He rams things & shoves things with his walker but he will not have anything to do with tummy-time or trying to learn to crawl... I've tried the favorite toy "just out of reach" trick. Hasnt worked yet. I've tried encouraging him to "come to mamma". Hasnt worked either.... I've come to the conclusion that some kids just skip crawling & it appears that mine is going to be one of them. Yours may be also.... Best of luck to you!

Help the baby as he wants,e.g. he turned up side down let him do, but just give him a helping hand, he put his hand forward to catch some object, he likes, put that near him. he put his efforts to catch it, move it a little away from his aproach, he will try to catch it by crawling, move it a little more....and go on. Care:--- make him realise that he has succeeded .

hi there, i dont know how old your child is but some children dont really crawl at all both myself and my eldest child went from bum shuffling on the floor to getting up and walking. children do things at there own pace and there own way. dont worry too much. all i can advice is let your child explore the floor as much as possible.
give it a year and you'll be wishing they'd just sit down for a bit!!

I bought my son a Winnie the Pooh that crawled whenever he touched it. He soon started crawling after it. Unfortunately I don't remember where I bought it.

well you can crawl in front of her, i know it sounds silly, but children learn a lot by example. also, put a favorite toy in front of the baby but out of reach to encourage them to get to it. that will help.
