A 16 yr old, lowlife, highschool dropout drowned in my apt's pool. The pool wasn't open, gates were locked, he wasn't at all supervised and he didn't know how to swim. I believe he deserved what he got. Is that wrong of me to think like that?

haha, I love some of these answers. My compassion lies neither with him or his family. I'd see him everyday tormenting MY cats and everyone elses animals and other people as well. He needed guidance and apparently his family didn't give him any, so yeah.. I must be a horrible person to some of yall, but I still think he got what he deserved. As a t-shirt once read, "I'm allergic to stupid people!" Apparently, the family wasn't too saddened about what happened, their mourning consisted of having beer and a bbq after the funeral. Also, it would have NEVER been my child because I would teach my child to respect anything and everything around him/her and show him/her some much needed guidance.

Not at all. Stupid people deserve to die stupid deaths.
It's evolution at work, weeding out weaker genetic materiel before it can be passed along to another generation.
It's not wrong of you to think this way.

At first thought, you are not alone. However, no one deserves to die for being "stupid" in their life----sometimes it is just the highest price to pay for being an idiot. Keep in mind, that somewhere along the line, this guy didn't get the parental training he deserved for being alive. It sucks, but it means so much to learn about life from ones who love you---and he probably didn't have that going for him. As you read this, I hope that you are starting to feel some compassion for someone who maybe didn't have much of a chance.

Just a thought.

Peace

Someone loved him.

What if he had saved someones life before?

What if he had a hard life, and he was abused as a child?

What if he cried himself to sleep every night?

What if he was always hungry, but couldn't always have food to eat?

He was still a human being. Did he ever wrong you?

Every life has purpose.

Try to have more compassion. If he didn't harm you personally or anyone you love, then you don't have a justified reason for celebrating his tragic demise. Even if he did something bad to you personally, that still doesn't make it right for you to be happy he is dead.

What if that kid was your own son?

Darwinism at work... If a person is unable to swim, breaks into a locked pool area, and drowns, all I could do is shake my head and wonder at the stupidity of it all.

yes of course it is. he did not deserve to die. He probably wanted to play in the pool so he just decided to go over there even though it was locked. how could you say something like that. you know that was someone's child.

It isn't necessarily "wrong" for you to think that, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I do however think that this is probably not one that you should go around expressing. This person was someone's child, and despite how horrible of a person they were, people still loved them. Be respectful about your opinions.

Let me get this straight. A child dies and you say he deserved it, therefore you are asking this question hoping people will tell you that you are not wrong? This is about you how? What is it you are really trying to say?

Well, I think deserved is the wrong word. But I can understand if you don't feel responsible and you don't have any great emotions about, specially if you don't know the victim.

How dare you. In my family you DO NOT pass judgment unless you want to be judged your self! You do not speak ill of the dead. He was just 15, weres you compasion and empathy? You should be greatly ashamed!

No. People have to take responsibility for their own actions. It's sad that he lost his life, but stupid decisions have bad consequences.
