When you start to feel that you are getting to that point of explosion is when you need to take a step back and say, Hey, I am getting close to loosing it. Let me take a min and compose myself. And then take however long it takes for you to get back into a rational state of mind. If it takes you two days to get to where you can think and talk about the issue then that's how long it takes. The more you work on it the shorter the time it will take for you to gain your composure.
The breathing exercises work but not just alone. You have learn to recognize what triggers you and teach yourself how to pull yourself out of whatever it that is triggering it. Take your to time to regain your composure. Think what is it that i'm really angry about? am i really angry at myself, the person, or the situation? what is it that is really getting to me? if you take the time to think with your head and not your emotions, you will find yourself not loosing your temper as much.
Hope this helps. It does work.

Admitting this is the first step, which is wonderful. You know what you're doing isn't acceptable, and you WANT to quit. Stop and take deep breaths until you relax. When you realize you're fixing to lose your temper, have more self control and analyze the situation you're getting so worked up for, and think before you speak. There's always a rational, civil way to deal with raging emotions. And PRAY that God will give you the strength to keep your cool when these situations arise.

Sometimes you just have to walk away. Especially if it is with another person who doesn't seem to be taking notice or anything. I only ever argue with people I can't get through to by talking. I keep trying to stay calm by taking deepp breaths but sometimes it doesn't work. If at all possibly, you should get completely out of the stressful situation.

Take a very deep breath, and hold it until you think you will burst. Count to 10 slowly as you let it out. Do this until you are more concerned with passing out than with the anger.

If the arguements are with the same person for example your partner thell them you need their help. What I did with my husband was to tell him when I had a go at him and shouted and lost my temper with him was for him to come up to me, and put his arms around me and hold me tight so I could no longer shout at him. Not a hus, more like a stop grip. It made me think about what I was doing and it also stopped me from shouting at him. Usually ended up getting a kiss from it too!!

Try walking away or running depending on how annoyed you are. And stay away until you are in a better frame of mind never a good idea to completely lose it especially if you are going to regret it later.
