I had my membranes stripped on Wednesday, I was 80% effaced and 2cm dilated. I did have contractions on Wednesday and some yesterday on and off. But today it feels like it basically stopped. How long does it take, why are my contractions not getting stronger and closer together to go into labor? Im 39 weeks, I dont want to go over my due date, this baby is going to be huge if I do!

The baby will be big. Im not making this up. My last baby was 9 lbs and that was a killer. I had a very hard labor. This baby will be close to that weight if I go over.

Do squats!! You'll look and feel stupid but it'll work. I had my membrances stripped with my 1st one and 46 hours later, she still didn't want to come out. My friend made me walk around the hospital- squatting down every few feet and everntually that worked. Nipple stimulation also works once themembrances are stripped but tell the doctor if you're doing that cause it can bring hard and fast contractions.

I had mine stripped. 2 weeks later I was induced. LOL At 42 weeks with my son born last April, and at 43 weeks with my son born in Dec. 01.
The child that was 2 weeks overdue was 8 lbs. 13 ozs.
The child that was 3 weeks overdue was 7 lbs. 6 ozs.
I wouldn't sweat it. The baby won't be too big, and if your due date is a little off you certainly don't want your baby to be born any earlier than necessary, because of the complications with that.
I remember how hard those last few days are. Try to enjoy it while it lasts. I miss being pregnant!

I had my membranes stripped and still had to be induced. I was 3-4 cm when I had them stripped and I went in to be induced several days later at 4-5 cm.. even after having it done I was still 2 weeks overdue.. The last weeks are the hardest but it will all be over soon!

There is no one on record being pregnant forever! I know it feels like it but seriously relax. I was THREE weeks over due with my first one and I made it just fine. As for stripping, it only gets you ready. Mostly it works. I was stripped to have my son and he was born less than 24 hours later. But my daughter didn't care how many times I was stripped. Walking really is best...sorry. This too will pass.....

Sweetie's right...remember that a due date is an estimate, and that 40 wks is only an average. Relax, walk, get a good back rub or massage, drink plenty of water, and get plenty of sleep, 'cause baby will be ready very soon. He/she won't necessarily be huge just because you go a day or two (or more) past due.
