Sounds like a great trip!

Montreal -

Visit the BIODOME which is next to the big Olympic Stadium. Its East of the city.

Visit the "old Montreal" which is a small area of older houses, roads made of stones and very European looking.

Visit the brewery. Montreal has great beer!

Go "up north" which is about 2 hours from Montreal but easily done if you rent car. Go to Mont St-Sauveur, a ski mountain area but open all year round as it is a beautiful resort.

A MUST EAT - its called a "poutine" pronounced "poot-een" its a bowl of home made french fries with a gravy sauce and topped with cheese. Its a must try! Very popular in the province of Quebec. Its fast food of course so you will find this yummy treat at restaurents such as "Mikes" or "La belle Province".

A few tips
- Montreal is a bilingual city but you will find some only speaking French. Learning a few words in French will help you get around and trying to speak French will be great if you want Montrealers to be friendly with you.

- Out of all the seasons to go ... summer is great but busy with tourists but thats good too!
- Fall is awesome as the trees have beautiful colors.

In a perfect world yea this could work but life isn't perfect and with the time avaiable to you I'd drop the Quebec city because you are going to be spending your weekend just driving. Also you are going to be travelling with a little one and take it from me they are HIGH maintenance at that age, (diapers, feedings, etc) To see the best place of the three I'd choose Quebec City very nice VERY French and just blow off the other two. The airport in Montreal is on the same side of the city as the highway to Ottawa so possibly a better choice would be to tour Montreal then go to Ottawa and then return to Montreal. BTW when you pick up and return your car DO NOT tell the guy you went to Ottawa tell them you went anywhere in Quebec that is reasonable. This is because some companies charge extra if you go out of province have a good trip and safe home

Montreal is very nice and modern, with great restaurants and architecture. Quebec City has European-style defensive walls and castles, and excellent restaurants. Ottawa has the coolest museum, the Museum of Civilization (actually across the river in Hull). It's more of a tribal art gallery, with more ideas for tattoos to be found there than you can shake a stick at.

search on the http://www.bonjourquebec.com/
you have what to choose.
You can write me on my e-mail: ducesica2004@yahoo.com. I was in 2003 in a tour: Toronto - Ottawa - Mont Blanc - Quebec City - Montreal - Tadoussac - Baie Comeau - Daniel Johnson Dam - Matane - Riviere du Loup - Causapscal - Campbellton - Richibucto - Moncton - Hopewell Rocks - Halifax - St. Pegy's Cove and back to Toronto through Montreal on the other side of peninsula. (I have 6000 photos from this trip, you read well six thousands). And all in 15 days. I don't have booked any accommodations. I slept where I could find on the road. And the intial route was often changed because the landscapes and the indicators to the sites was very explicit and attractive.
It was magnificent. I had the same holiday in Austria last year.
Also I suggest to order the brochures on the site: www.bonjourquebec.com for the province you are interested. The brochures are very useful and plenty of information. They have coupons for discounts also.
A few example: http://www.bonjourquebec.com/ca-en/activites0.html
http://www.bonjourquebec.com/ca-en/regions0.html
http://www.bonjourquebec.com/ca-en/regions0.html (you can also download these brochures, if you don't want to wait untill they send you the informations).
After you see the brochures you'll realise that you don't have enough time for visit those regions.
Another advice, if you want: don't drive on the highway. It's a much more to see outside the highway, on the national roads.
I wish you a nice trip

Quebec City and the Chateau Frontenac are your best bets. Go to the Plains of the Field of Abraham and see where the British beat the French to gain control of th whole of Canada.
