It's rediculous! People are sublimenting their bad parenting skills with drugs, and that is not right. People need to learn how do properly disapline their children and set clear boundaries. Without boundaries, how is the child supposed to know how to act? Of course they are acting crazy if the parents aren't disaplining their bad behaviors. What is this world comming to!

Ya wanna see the outcome of a individual survey that I've performed whilst operating ? I soak up-coming calls from purchasers and knowledge purchasers . These calls come from far and wide the contiguous United States . People are specific and the equal, far and wide the nation . I constantly have got to ask 'what state are you calling from' after which 'what side of your state do you live in' . Well, the calls that come from California are not like any of the opposite 1000's of calls . And California is a heavy Liberal state total, however very a lot so within the southern part of the state . Of the entire different states and their residents, Californians say and do that greater than some other state :: Sound like they are on medicines. . .both authorized or unlawful . Don't understand what side of the state that they are living in . Go on wild ramblings approximately the President and numerous conspiracy theories . Don't understand cities which can be inside forty or 50 miles in their the city, in spite of admitting that they grew-up there all their lives . Have predicament comprehending practical guidelines(this one would be attributed to the visible drug use or mis-use) Ask a query. .. . Get an reply. .. Then ask it once more. . .Get the reply once more. . .. .then later, ask the equal rattling query as regardless that it was once certainly not requested . And on and on !! I even needed to 'dumb down' what I'm meant to inform them. .. . .. . .someone could do the equal after numerous undescribale conversations with a Californian . I'd love to make this transparent as soon as once more. . .. . I began through pronouncing. . . Californians do that greater than some other state . I did not say 'all Californians' . Thank you .

I used to be a teacher in a toddler preschool classroom. I had one student that showed all the signs of anxiety and depression and that was really wierd to me because I didn't know that a two year old could get depressed. He huddled in the rocking chair all day for his first three weeks straight and started to cry if anyone approached, talked to or looked at him. All he needed was a sense of familiarity and security, not prozac.
Generally a psychologist won't diagnose a child as needing psych drugs until they're at least 5 or 6. And even then the decision should be made with the utmost caution, and only after all the other options have been exhausted.

Children doesn'tmean the same as toddlers, but I'm really against it. The spike in drug administration I blame a lot on teachers. While they may be excellent at teaching, when a child acts up, they tend to call the parents and say the child is hyperactive so the parents get the kids on meds. Teachers are not doctors and should not diagnose. We need parents to raise their kids to respect authority and not worry about whether the kid id reading by the time they start school. That way the teacher will be able to do their job of teaching and not babysitting a bunch of kids going wild in the classroom. Done ranting.

I would NEVER recommend a psychotropic to a parent of a toddler. I hesitate to even diagnose a toddler with any mental disorder. I have lots of parents that come into my office and want their 3 year olds tested for ADHD because they are hyperactive, distracted, and defiant. That's not ADHD. That's 3! The DSM-IV actually says to avoid diagnosing young children because it is difficult to ascertain what behavior is due to a mental illness and what is developmentally appropriate. I can't imagine what a kid could be doing to be on an antipsychotic. These are probably parents with kids with behavioral problems, looking for the quick fix, rather than going through therapy and putting in some work.

i doubt that they are administering psychotropics to very many toddlers. In medical jargon, when they talk about children and adults, they tend to use either age 18 or 21 as the break point.
I don't have a problem with teenagers getting medical help, and if that is a psychotropic drug, it's OK with me. But i do think that teenagers AND adults should be evaluated carefully to see if drugs are really the right way to go.
