The skin over my piercing has dried up and one morning when I woke up my piercing was missing and I was left with two bumps over my belly button. the skin fell off. I went to my piercer and he said to wait two weeks and come back for a free piercing. Although seeing how this went I don't want to risk more trauma on my scar tissue. I did take good care of my piercing using antibacterial soap (Triclosen) twice a day and sea salt soaks. Could this be body rejection and What should I do with it now?

It sounds like your piercing rejected. ( see the pictures below of rejection). When clients come into the shop with rejected piercings its quite often because they changed the jewlery too early, played with it durring the healing process, or it got ripped a bit durring sports.

The best thing is not to wait 2 weeks, but to wait longer.(a few months sometimes, it depends on your scar tissue, I cant tell without seeing it) Once a piercing has rejected, the skin is damaged, and the scar tissue is weak. It sometimes is unable to support a piercing properly. If you get pierced through this skin right away, there is a very high risk of rejection. ( although some people have no problem, the risk is there)

A good idea is to wait untill the piercing hole is healed, and then start to put vitamin e oil on the area. Some people say that that helps speed up the process of scar tissue regeneration.

How were you taking care of your piercing? Were you rotating it when you cleaned it? I never tell people to do this, it can cause rejection. The best way to clean a piercing is sea salt soaks. ( and no rotation.) When you rotate a piercing you are forcing crust back inside the fistula ( skin tube). This scratches the inside of the fistula and can cause rejection. Not in everybody, but I've seen many situations.

Follow the below instructions for making a sea salt soak.(Its important that you measure!!!)

►Sea Salt Soak◄
1.Wash your hands with an anti-Bacterial or antimicrobial liquid Soap/Wash.
2.Use a disposable cup to mix your sea salt solution. Or clean your cup very well with the anti-bacterial soap.
3.Mix 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt to 8 oz of warm water. (Distilled water if possible)
4.Pour the solution into a small shot glass and tip it over onto your piercing. Fully saturate the piercing. Do this for 10 minuites once a day.
Do not rotate, twist it or turn the piercing.

Good Luck! And keep in mind that once a piercing rejects, it is always at risk for rejecting again, if it does reject again, you are at risk for worse scar tissue. If you are in that situation again. Do not wait untill the piercing'falls off' you should take it out at the first sign of rejection. ( providing there is no infection). This will reduce the risk of having terrible scar tissue

Similar thing happened to me. The first time, I had a round ring and it kept going to one side whenever I wear a tight shirt so it pulled my skin out. Since the healing process was still taking over, I lost my belly button ring and it healed completely. The second time the skin stretched from wearing a dangly ring (it kept getting caught on my belt) and it pulled the skin, again. It pulled so much that the skin ended up being with just a little left and it came off. I have a scar not but I got it done the third time. And it's still good. Although I had Triclosen, I didn't use it anymore on my third time. Actually, I never cleaned it with antibacterial (cept when I'm showering and using antibacterial soap). And, lookie, it's better than the first and second piercing! So I say, wait more than 2 weeks, let it heal, and re-pierce it. And instead of washing it with 2 times a day, try washing it once a day and not use the sea soak. Sometimes, access washing may do more damage than good. Also, make sure you are wearing surgical steel, they are non-allergic.

Ohh...I had a scar after the second piercing came off. It (2nd piercing) actually looked like the pics the person posted below (for rejection) when it was pulled (but not so huge...it's tinier). The scar is a darker brown color but people hardly notice it cuz my navel ring covers it.

Here's what you should do.
1. You should wait about a month to let your body heal itself before getting another piercing.

2. get some salt and soak your navel. Use very warm water and a small cup hold it on your stomach for about five minutes everyday. It will help the healing.

3. get the piercing done with a barbel if it wasn't one before. It causes less friction.

4. If while your waiting for it to heal the skin keloids (puffs up and starts to look kind of like a raised mole. Think about not getting it done again because your body will over produced cells trying to heal the peircing.

Good luck if you have questions feel free to ask me.

Sometimes piercings just reject. If you get it pierced again it is very unlikely to reject because it won't reject through the scar tissue and they will pierce it under the scar this time. If you still want it, then try it again.

Yes if performed through an unlicensed piercer you piercing can pop out crocked and with an contamination. Make definite to get it pierced at a respectable location w/ professional piercers who use sterlized equippment and hole needles.

Let it heal. It sounds like rejection. Belly piercing might not work for you.
