I know she looked at one that was pink -- and if there is one that's pink, she'll want it.

What criteria should I be looking after in picking out an iPod (obviously in addition to color)? What's most important? What accessories are "must have"?

Any help, and even suggestions to particular models, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Honestly if you have an Apple store near you go there. They are super helpful and knowledgeable. I have a black 30MB but I have A LOT of music, pics, and video stored on there.

They'll also teach you how to put music on and how to work it!

And definitely get the warranty. I had a mini (the one that is colored but they no longer sell it) and it broke and they fixed it for free. You can get a skin (or case) that is pink also.

u need 2 know how many songs she wants to put on there
is this mainly for workout?
does she want to have pictures, movies, calendars, etc on there?

most people just buy the Ipod minis which comes in many different colors. this is what she probably saw. it holds about 1000-1200 songs.

there is the nano which comes on black and white. i believe it holds about 1000 songs too. it is the smallest Ipod out there.

then there is the video Ipod which has 30gb or 60gb of memory. holds like 5000 + songs, videos, games, podcasts, photos...everything. comes in black and white.

if she works out then you definately need a case. absoultely necessary with nano and video if you are getting the black ones. there are armbands and docking stations that are nice. accessories are expensive!!!!

try to find some on Ebay with cases. ALWAYS buy the warranty. it comes with 1 yr warranty but you should get the extended also. they replaced mine right there when they couldn't fix it. these things are not cheap...

Don't buy a used ipod, period.

Other than that, my advice it to go with the highest capacity nano. The video function of the 6th generation ipods is way overblown (I've used mine like twice to watch video) and no one really needs 60gb of music storage.

you might want to give her an apple giftcard so she can pick out the one she likes best...
