You can only write to a CD-RW with your CD burner software. Then you can add more files (but not change an existing file). But you can write new files to the same CD-RW. So you might try this:

Read your large file into Word.
Make the additions to it.
Write it on your hard drive using Save As, with a new name
Start your CD burner software, and write the new file out to the CD-RW.

Now you will have both of the old and new files on the CD-RW.

Warning: I tried this with photo files under Win98 and it worked, but performance was terrible as I got more files on the CD-RW. Haven't tried it with WinXP.

"RW" means that you can Re-Write informaton to the disc. You cannot change what you have copied to the disc already, you can only rewrite over the old information.
