Because no one is buying tickets. Quite funny if you ask me. They used their power of free speech and so did a lot of their former fans. Gotta love freedom!

Freedom of Speech is such a wonderful thing isn't it? The Dixie Chicks made a decision to make another political statement and so is the Heartland. The Dixie Chicks have a right to descent, the fans have a right not to purchase tickets. Maybe the album is selling better because listeners won't have to put up with as much ranting and raving on it, I don't know.

It's ridiculous. The Dixie Chicks used their right to free speech (just as many people globally do each day) - just because they are a band doesn't mean they can't speak out against what they feel is wrong- and get peanalised for it.
Yes it is the fans' right to boycott them- but the album sales suggest a fan would rather not to go see them live but buy the cd- rather in the closet, isn't it? And rather hypocritical?

Because, I suppose, a lot of their former fans suffer from a borderline idolatry - the worship of George W Bush - against which the Dixie Chicks were one of the prime offenders.
And corkie, criticizing George W Bush is not "treason." George W Bush is NOT America. He is its president, and is not - not if democracy is still relevent - entitled to an exemption from criticism.

Because their stupid statements a couple of years ago. They are not getting the draw in the South and the Midwest. We are obviously the only people that remember how stupid and non-patriotic they are. I know personally when I see them on tv, I change the channel. Support our troops and our President and be patriotic!

There are consequences for entertainers making political attacks and the people have responded accordingly. I would suggest they avoid further political comments and entertain the troops in Iraq. Then try to schedule another tour.

They told the truth about the ugliness of American Soldiers killing
civilians and implementing sexual torture. The Hertland finds these truths too painful,so their little red--state minds tune them out.
