Is China A Nation-State?

My first guess would be no because they don't share a common language throughout their nation, but I could be wrong.

Yes it is and the official language is Mandarin and the written language is the same no matter what dialect they speak. The definition of a Nation-State is not based on languages but rather on geographical boundaries. There are numerous "nations" that have multiple official languages. Singapore and the Netherlands are just a couple examples.

Your meaning of "nation state" is not that clear, however, if you are asking if China is an independent nation/country, the answer is yes. China is as much a nation state as the US or Germany, etc. There are various dialects of the Chinese language spoken in China, but there are some persons there who can speak all or nearly all of those dialects, but this is really not a problem for China.

your fears are unfounded. China cannot control its own destiny let alone other nations. in a war emergency all debt is canceled and voided. Russia, France and Germany still owe the U.S. millions of dollars from WW2.

Given the enormous amount of US debt being held by China, what makes you think they don't already own the place and are just waiting for the best time to foreclose?

Nope, I´m pretty sure that since China is actually a collection of different peoples speaking different languages and of differing descent, it doesn´t count... I´m no expert though...

Taiwan's de facto independence from the mainland would seem to preclude that.
