My thoughts exactly. If you're lucky enough to find the person you love and want to be with forever, people should just let you be happy in your relationship. Other people's sexual preferences have no effect on my life, why should I care who they are with?

A lot of people feel that they can tell others what is right and wrong---even though, they are doing their own wrongs. You will always find someone who is trying to tell you what to do, even though you are your own person, and you live your own life.
Religious beliefs and customs are so intertwined with some people, they don't even know anymore how to do otherwise. Just look at these so-called Christians, who will condemn you in a flash if you do not live up to their customs and beliefs.
It is said that marriage is a sacred institution, meant for woman and man, but if you search the Bible I do not think that you find anything about it in there. Man and woman are supposed to re-produce and the church kind of invented marriage for that. I really do not believe in it to begin with, because marriage, in my opinion has to be in the heart.
I have met a few gay people and I do have to tell you that for them it is a lot about equality as far as benefits(social security, health insurance via the employer of the one who makes the money). If there were laws providing that people who live in a marriage like setting qualify for the same benefits as married couples, the gay community would not be so hot on marriage laws, but those laws are the only way they can get the same benefits and protection of the law.
It is very unfortunate that people feel the need to ostracize and penalize those who have a different sexual preference---in the long run it is nothing but a power game. Those who will oppose you because of a particular preference feel in power. The same is the case with racism---there will always be people who will feel the need to be "powerful" at any expense, no matter what.

I don't know why this topic is such a big deal, if people want to marry within the same sex who cares. I think most people have nothing better to do then worry about what everyone else is doing. Life is too short.
Kickass Skater, being gay isn't a sin, sorry if you can find it anywhere specifically let me know

many people are angry because of the slippery slope theory, it goes like this if gay marriage is allowed then one day sex with small children will be OK then sex with animals then sex with fish and son until morality is no longer an issue, the truth of the matter is that this will happen as long as moral;ity if decided my the populace, what ever Americans think is moral will become the basis of morality, thus that will happen, the problem is that each generation has to decide what is moral and what is not, so no matter what anyone thinks the slope will always be slippery.
