the Geforce 4mx is based on the GeForce 2 graphics chip, despite the name of the card, while the game's minimum is a GeForce 3. If you have a PCI or AGP card with a GeForce 4mx, or if you have an available slot, you need to upgrade. The minimum system requirements for this game ar:

Operating System: Windows XP
Processor: 1.6 GHZ
RAM: 256MB
Video Card: GeForce 3 or better
Hard drive space: 1.3 gigs

While I haven't looked at the box, I'm going to guess they recommend a much higher end graphics card than the minimum, e.g. Nvidia 6xxx, 7xxx, or ATI 1xxx series, for optimal play.

I had the same problem on my old comp playing splinter cell. the GeForce 4 MX doesnt support new technologies like pixel shading like newer video cards do. like the other guy said about the chips, it uses a Geforce 2 when the requirement are Geforce 3

Thats odd. I have the same card and it works on my system. Check your Ram. That may be the problem. LOR:Battle for Middle Earth 2 is a memory hog as I remember.

I think it can work with you but make the level of your graphic low to work with you
