I recently found a great deal on a Saab 900S convertible. I'm trying to get it for a first car. Are they hard to maintain, are they not good cars? it is 1995. Please answer

VERY NICE choice. THEY are quite reliable but check them out thorughly as spare parts are expensive & rust is common. Very decent cars overall.

First off.. SAABS are Swedish.. NOT TURKISH.
The parts that would be imported would come from Swedin, not Turkey.

And recently Saab was bought out by General Motors. As for a 1995 Saab. They can be very reliable, yet expensive to repair b/c replacing parts on a 1995 would have to be an aftermarket part. Aftermarket parts are cheaper and sometimes better quality than the original part. I would have to agree with another person that said Saab would be a bad first car. Go for a toyota, honday or Nissan as your first car. Look for something with less than 75,000 miles and has been well cared for.

They are excellent cars, but they are turkish, which means if somerthing happens to it, well lets just say your in for a long wait if you need a part. They aren't to compatible with the normal stuff so the parts get imported, but they can be pretty much reliable. Just don't push it to hard, this isn't "Need For Speed" man, try to keep it under 70 unless you want to get a new carborator from turkey

SAABS HAVE THE WORST RELIABILITY RATING ACCORDING TO CONSUMER REPORTS WHICH COME FROM THE PEOPLE WHO OWN THEM. THEY ARE ALSO VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR..... LIKE LOTS OF MONEY..... SO FOR A FIRST CAR IT WOULD BE A TERRIBLE CHOICE UNLESS YOUR DAD IS A MECHANIC AND YOU HAVE LOTS OF MONEY.... YOU DO KNOW THAT HONDA AND TOYOTA MAKE SOME OF THE MOST RELIABLE CARS ON THE ROAD AND THEY EASILY RUN OVER 200,000 MILES WITH LITTLE TO NO PROBLEMS... GO LOOK AT SOME CIVICS OR CAROLLAS. YOU WILL BE HAPPY WITH THEM FOR A FIRST CAR... I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE PEOPLE BEFORE ME SAID THE CARS ARE RELIABLE??? CONSUMER REPORTS AND CONSUMER REVIEW BOTH STATE THE CARS BREAK DOWN ALOT. MY UNCLE ONLY BUYS SAABS. HE SAY'S THEY DO SEE THE MECHANIC ALOT BUT HE ONLY KEEPS THEM UNTIL THEIR WARANTY IS UP THEN HE TRADES THEM IN......... ALSO FOR YOUR FIRST CAR RUN A CARFAX ON YOUR CAR TO MAKE SURE IT WAS NOT IN ANY BAD ACCIDENTS OR A FLOOD CAR OR ETC. MOST DEALERS WILL DO THIS FOR FREE... IF NOT YOU CAN GO TO CARFAX.COM AND DO IT YOURSELF FOR LIKE $10.00 OR $12.00. ALL YOU NEED IS THE VIN NUMBER OF THE CAR. ALSO SAAB COME UP UNDER CONSUMER REPORTS AS USED VEHICLES TO AVIOD LIST... GO BUY THE 2006 CONSUMER REPORTS BUYING GUIDE OR JUST LOOK AT IT IN A BOOK STORE AND YOU WILL KNOW WHICH CARS ARE GOOD AND WHICH TO AVOID!!!! GOOD WEB SITE TO FIND USED CARS IS AUTOTRADER.COM OR YAHOOS AUTO SECTION ON THEIR HOME PAGE. GOOD LUCK

Generally decent cars. However, maintenance is expensive.
