is it a good sign if a potential employer calls you for an interview, after you put your resume on hotjobs?

This employer called me after seeing my resume, i need this job but i dont want to sound desperate. how do i land this job and make it a sure thing?

It is the same as if they saw your resume anywhere else, friend showed them, they saw it in response to an ad whatever.

Here's why:

-from the potential employer's point of view, he has a job that needs filled and he has used a resource to find a number of potential candidates whose skills match the qualifications for his position. He's narrowed it down to the ones that he feels are best qualified so that he doesn't have to spend all his time interviewing and can the rest of his job.

-from your point of view, should you decide to take the time and make the necessary arrangements to go to the interview, it would be the same risk no matter how they decided to "pick you out". Same time lost, same amount of driving to get there, etc. (same jitters in the stomach for me)

-from your present employer's point of view. how will he know?

So all that being said, since the potential employer has had exposure to more resumes this way and has still chosen to interview you, you have better chances than at most other positions.

Take a deep calm breath. Walk in with confidence that the employer knows you are well qualified and ask for what you want. Make it obvious you are willing to negotiate if the employer hesitates a great amount.

Not giving 2 weeks notice shouldn't be a problem. This company where you are trying to get a job will ask your past employer if you really worked there. For how long and what kind of job did you do to be able for them to know if you are really what you are on your experience. They also MIGHT ask your character and security clearance. Some asks about if they will hire you back and the answer is yes - then they might give you the job at once. If no - the old company will not say we will not hire them back instead they will say they have no comment. While it's still early - go back where you use to work and kind of kiss A.... so that they give you good reference. Good Luck.

hell yeah! I posted my resume and got a call back in the same day. They asked if I wanted to come in for an interview I said sure. A week Later I have the bst job I have ever had. Let them do the talking. If they want to ask you a question Be thurough. Back up what you say with the expereince that gave you the answer. If they want you to come in for an interview, set it up asap. Do what you can to show you have what it take to do the job. Show your enthusiasim by getting stuff done fast. Usually they want to fill the position as fast as possible.

Congratulations on being called in for an interview, it's always a good sign. Answer the questions they ask, but do not volunteer any information. Remember they cannot ask about personal things like marital status, disability, age and so on. Good luck!

Those sites are very popular right now. Tell him you decided to post your resume as someone advised you to do so (I did it too) and thank God for technology because the truth is - it used to be you drive all day in your car applying for positions and with gas prices the way they are, who can do that???? I got replies also so they do work!!! I hope you don't think you sound desparate just because you posted it there do you? Don't worry - people do it all the time. All he knows is you are looking for a position - that's what we do - look for work when we're unhappy or not working. Nothing desparate about that - we do have to eat, right? Don't worry about it. Be yourself. Don't throw yourself at the employer. When asked to an interview calmlt schedual it, and then when the time comes, Go take care of buisness. Just remeber the interview rules. Good luck!!

Personally, I'd be praying that no one from my present employer saw my resume out there. Might make them think about giving me the old heave-ho.

Treat it like any other interview. If they hire you, they do, if they don't, maybe the next one will.

Be cool, but be self-assured. Don't oversell yourself, and no matter what happens in the interview, don't give them an answer right then and there. Tell them you'll let them know by the end of the day.

First you have to dress appropiate. Talk wit great etiquette. use the words like and uhm as less as possible. look the interviewer striaght in the eye and give he or she your best HONEST answer. If you are unable to do a task or tasks that they require, tell them that you are a fast learner.
