It seems there are so much misspelling, bad grammar and really horrible Internet abbreviations- are people just really stupid or do they just not care? Don't they know how uneducated they seem?

I'm not talking about people who are from non-english speaking countries- if you are an intelligent person you can tell the difference. It seems there are tons of people that can't speak correct english from America. Such a disgrace...

When typing it's easy to misspell words but also easy to check their spelling but either don't know about checking their spelling or just don't give a hoot.
There really isn't any good "excuse" for bad grammar or abbreviations either other then some people might think it's sexy or cute but to any one with an ounce of common sense they know it's stupid and lazy. Those who don't take the time to type out the words correctly are the uneducated and will get no where in this world at all.
I may not be the smartest person in this world but I do take pride in myself and don't like to look stupid either.

It's not just because of sheer stupidity, they just don't care. They type out an answer really fast and don't bother to check it over for mistakes. And they don't bother to use the spell check that's available. I guess I'm just a big dork, I use the spell check every time I post a question or an answer on here even if I know I spelled everything right. It's very easy to make a mistake while typing.

Everyone is looking for shortcuts in everything they do . . . including good grammar. They do not even try to "check spelling". Yes, they do not care. And, it indeed, does make them look quite uneducated, but they don't care about that either. People in today's society have neglected grammar skills and spelling skills and have instead armed themselves with Blackberries, computers, and cell phones, which with they "text" their lives away.

I think people are just stupid, I hate misspelled words. And Answers has a "Check Spelling" feature, people cannot even use that. It's not "cool" to look stupid.

There are a lot of stupid people out there,but I think most are
young students who just don't care. Maybe some of them even
think it's not cool to use correct spelling.As for if they know how
uneducated they seem-maybe they do but it doesn't stop them

I agree with the OP. I get headaches reading some of the questions on here. It's very bad.

It's really horrible. It does make them sound stupid. How much harder is it to pronounce it correctly? What's worse is they probably talk like that in real life, too.

Because people can't be bothered to write the full words, even if it is only a couple of extra letters.

I guess people try to answer questions so quickly that they forget to check their spelling. We usually understand what they mean, so don't worry about it. Someone will eventually correct them.

I would have to say people are lazy and don't want to spell correctly. Or maybe they think it's fun to talk "chat lingo" I hate it! I think it makes them sound stupid.
