Friend = The enemy of my enemy. However, I must point out, my own worst enemy is myself. So as my friends keep asking themselves, how do I even have any friends? Grin!

How I judge the level of friendship, Sleep-Food-Sex.

Sex - If I can carry a conversation with them about anything in the word, including about sex, and still be friendly afterwards, I know things are above aquaintance

Food - If I can enjoy eating with the person with that person, I know things are above aquaintance. If I miss that person while eating something that reminds me of them, we are friends.

Sleep - If I feel safe and comfortable enough to sleep defenselessly around them, they have my trust. If I invite a friend to stay the night, they have the my heart. If they can survive my snoring, they have my love.

A friend is someone who doesn't judge you, who's there for you through thick and thin. A true friend is someone who will sit next to you in jail and say "Damn, that was fun!"
An acquaintance becoming a friend takes trust being built.

To me a friend is someone you can confide anything with and they will never judge you. A friend is someone that will tell you the truth no matter what because he/she trusts you enough to know you will not judge him/her. A friend is someone that sticks around through all your happiness and hardships and if you get lucky enough to get just ONE genuine friend like that in a lifetime, then you've been blessed.
