Ok, I paid rent through February 2007 when My landlord said he was leaving to live closer to his kids, he left a man in charge of the property. Soon after he left, the guy he left in charge said the house was in foreclosure and he won't be able to manage the property. The landlord never answered our calls. Then, an occupancy manager from the bank showed up and told us that he needed to talk to the landlord, we told him he was gone. The occupancy guy came back and told us to stay put for now, but that the other properties would have locks changed. When I called the bank they won't talk to me. The landlord has a blog he writes on daily which states he no longer owns property. I don't know where to find out whether or not this house is in foreclosure, but a man from the courts said it has been in pre-forclosure for over a year now?!!? That was 6 months ago...Who can I call to find out if this home is in fact in foreclosure? I have children with me! It's In Madison Co. Illinois.

First, if a house is in foreclosure, it will be on record with the county public trustee. The public trustee will also be able to tell you who is representing the mortgage company. That attorney should be ableto answer your questions. If the house is in foreclosure, you should get legal notices every step of the way.

To find out if a property is in foreclosure you may go to the county court house and request to see all the liens against the property as well as any adverse action taken against the property.
This will cost a small fee.

If you have a Friend in the real estate business you might ask then if they can provide you with a property profile which will tell you if the property is in foreclosure.

Another way of doing it is to look in the telephone book, find a title company, call, ask for the customer service department, see if they will provide you with a property profile tell them you are trying to find out if the property you live in is in foreclosure or not. Normally they would not do it, but on occasions you will get lucky and find someone that might do it.

I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

Did you try to go through the fair housing , the number is1 800 3473739, they may be able to help you . Or you can try to get a hold a real estate office and the should be able to direct you in the right direction. But Me personally I would try the Fair housing or even the renters rights . You should be able to go through the government pages in the front of your phone book ,to get these numbers . I hope everything works out for you .

Start trying to locate somewhere else to live just in case. If you are hearing from banks & such, it can't be good news.
