January 1, 1901 -- not 1900, as others have suggested. Remember that the 1st century would have gone from the start of year 1 to the end of year 100. (There was no year 0.) That means every century ends at the end of the year ending in "00", and every century begins at the start of the year ending in "01". Don't be fooled by the "18" changing to "19". The calendar doesn't work like a car's odometer, because the calendar starts at year 1, which the odometer starts at zero.
