Okay..I've been getting MANY conflicting answers to this question and I'm curious as to what you think about this.

Some people say not to use baby lotion after a baby's bath, and some people swear by it. What are your thoughts on this?

Bathing a baby too much can dry out the skin. If this is the case, definately use it. If your baby looks like he or she has dry skin, use it. If not, don't. It works great, and I think my son likes the silky way his little leggies feel after a bath and lotion. You decide. Just don't put it on his or her hands, unless you cover them up because the hands usually go in the mouth.

I don't use it unless my baby needs it. Depending on the age of the child, you really shouldn't be bathing him or her every day. Newborns should be bathed a few times a week. Up until they're a year or so old, they don't really get that dirty, so they don't need daily bathing (which is one cause of dry skin). The only time I've used lotion on my kids is in the winter when we've been outside and it's cold. Their skin (cheeks) can sometimes get a little windburned and dry from the cold air. Also, my older son had baby eczema for a short time, so we used eucarin on him a few times a day, but only on the dry patches. If you do use baby lotion (some people use it every day) my pediatrician recommends Lubriderm Sensitive (dye free, perfume free). Also, when you bathe your baby, use Dove Free and Sensitive (white box with a light green label) That has moisturizers in it, and helps keep their skin soft, alleviating the need for lotion.

I have 3 kids and I used and still using baby lotion after bath. Is a good thing because the baby's skin don't get dry. My doctor said that was OK to use baby lotion since they born. My youngest baby has eczema and doctor recommend me to use a lotion from Nivea. I don't know if you have heard of it but it is really good!

I think that baby lotion is just fine. I use it on my 1 year old after bath time or when his skin just looks dry. If you are concerned or child is having reaction to lotion ask their doctor.

I used baby oil an my son's head to help get rid of cradle cap. As for lotion in general - I did only sparingly, because some medical research has shown that children that have been exposed to LARGE quanitities of lotions during the first year of life had a 76% chance of having allergies.

I use a natural baby soap and lotion. My son gets wet (not a full bath, but in the tub cuz he loves to shower with me or Daddy) every single day so I have to put something on him to make sure he doesn't get dry skin. I like Aveeno or Burts Bees best.

My kids are 4 and 2 I still use lotion on both of them but I wait till they air dry. I put a diaper or underwear on them and let them air dry than I use Huggies baby lotion and they smell so good and their skin is just as smooth-as the day they was born.

Use it!! The smell of a clean baby with lotion is one of the world's greatest gifts! I can think of nothing I would rather smell. I like Burt's Bee's Buttermilk lotion. It is very fresh and a little thicker than others. I used it with all 3 of mine and it didn't give them skin irritations.

I always put baby lotion on my daughter after a bath, but never on her face.

Why would they make baby lotion if your not suppost to use it. Just stick with the originals none of that added crap. just to keep the baby's skin like a baby. But if you don't want to there is always baby powder you can use that too
