You know when something traumatic happens and they bring in greif counselors to help people deal with whatever just happened? What does the therapist do or say? What is the therapists' goal since they won't be having many counseling sessions?

Part of the reason they have grief counselors for traumatic events is to identify who will need more extensive help.

But in general, they will probably go over the stages of the grief process in one way or another, because understanding the grief process is supposed to make it easier to deal with.

Often having someone to listen can do wonders for helping people deal with what they went through. Getting people to speak about their fears, difficulties, etc. is an important part of counseling.

I think generally they discuss it with you to see if you have been impacted by it, and they try to get you to accept what has happened, and then move on.
