Certainly. I don't align myself to any particular political demographic. Some of my views can be liberal and some conservative, democratic, republican, or other. I never could understand why anyone would want to be "pigeon-holed" in any sort of demographic description. I pay my taxes, abide by the law, and don't need to be so one-dimensional.

Most people can't agree with a political party on everything, so you have to choose the one that is closest to what you believe.
The two-party system in the US makes it harder for you to find a party that is a perfect fit. If you vote for someone who agrees with you on 80% of the issues, you are stuck voting that way even though there is that one position that politician supports that you just can't stand. All you can do is write to him or her to tell them how you feel on that issue.
Maybe someday everyone will be so sick of choosing between the two main parties that we can get rid of the undemocratic electoral college and third parties could have a legit shot at winning a national election. I still crack up when I remember the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror special where the aliens take over the presidential candidates bodies and America still elects them--because they don't want to 'throw their vote' away on a third party.
Actually, throwing your vote away on a third party you agree with might be smarter than not voting or voting for the lesser of two evils. While there is no chance your guy will win the election, if he gets a noticeable amount of support, he may get the issues on his platform noticed by the people who do get elected.
(I assume you are from the US. If not, some of this might not apply.)

yes, it is ok. I do not belong to any political party because i do not believe it is right to classify my ideas as the same as another person's. If they are similar, then yes. For example, gay marriage should not have even been brought into the government aspect. What happened to the inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Another example would be the immigration thing... but hey, i live in AZ, so of course my views will differ from those political parties that are not based in my state. My views will differ from those of the party's. That's not wrong. All it means is that you can think for yourself and you are an individual.

Political parties are only common interest groups. Of course nobody agrees with every point the party takes. The best you can do is to find the party that comes closest to agreeing with your point of view, and don't let that party get taken over by THEM. (whoever it is that has taken out both the Dems AND the Reps.)

Unfortunately Jenny, way too many people blindly follow particular parties without studying their so-called representatives history of voting and policy choices.

Sure it is ok, why not, I do not agree with everything my party stands for, it just aligns more with what I stand for. You have to vote for somebody and what the stand for so I try to vote for the person or party that will hurt me and America least.

It is not OK to agree with just one party. It is our duty as Americans to question everything or government does.

I don't think anyone goes along with everything. Just go with the one that most reflects your values.
