if you have a job over her you'll have a resident visa for as long as your contract is valid. The other option is to buy some freehold property (see www.gulfnewscom/classifieds for information) which automatically comes with a residency permit for 99 years. If you want to marry, it has to be a UAE national or a foreigner who owns freehold property over here.
Me personally, I don't think it's worth to buy property over here (let alone get married to a UAE national for THAT reason) just to obtain a permanent residency. I don't know where you live right now but I find Dubai not sooo great,,,

yes u do hav to get married to some one that is already in the UAE as the UAE prince doesnt give any one rights to live perminantly in the country
