You need to make sure you have JAVA enabled.
To enable your JAVA, you need to go to Tools then Internet Options on your IE Browser menu on top.
Go to advanced and then scroll down and look for JAVA and check all the boxes.
Then go to the Security Tab and click on Custom Level and enable Java script.
If you need a JAVA runtime program to play games, download it at http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Restart browser.
You have to install runtime java to get applets to work correctly. Another reason why it might freeze is because java applets use a tremendous amount of memory so you might not have much memory. There might be also the case where yahoo games is just not working correctly. you might want to try again a little later.

I think its not java, run ur disk and do defrag ur disk!
