I had to reformat my hard drive and I did not have any data cd to transfer my photos onto. So I decided the best way to save them would be to zip them and send them to my aol and hotmail addresses. What I did not realize is that Outlook split my files if they were to big. Now I cannot just unzip them from my email attachments from aol or hotmail. Hotmail does not let me click on the attachment at all, and aol downloads the attachment, then when I try to unzip them with WinZip the files will not open because it has an unknown file name. Is there a way to put the the emails together to be able to unzip them as a whole, and save my precious files? Computer iliterate here. Can someone please help me?

Winzip should never "split" a file!! WinRAR is designed to do exactly that...compress and split. Try going to http://rarsoft.com and downloading WinRAR to see if it will help you.

Well, that is a fine pickle. Here is a last ditch attempt that may work. Since Outlook split them, it may have a facility to rejoin them. Try this: Reinstall Outlook, then send the pieces to someone else and have them mailed back to the Outlook account. It may enable you to rejoin the pieces and then unzip them normally. It is a long shot.
In desperation, an even longer shot is to use a binary editor to try and re-link the pieces by hand into one big file and remove header and EOF markers that Outlook made. I know this option is probably Greek to you, but anyone that is really truly computer savvy could probably attempt this, after proper backups are made! Good luck, I hope this helps you out.

Assuming that you created the zip files using a "disc spanning" feature, you should be able to open the LAST zip file in the set and it will have a directory for rebuilding all the files from the other ones.
