This is for a story I'm writing, and with lack of personal experience, I wanted to see what other people thought. So, you take a pregnancy test and it's positive. What do you do then? Wait a few days and take another test? See your doctor? What's the next step? Thanks for your help.

Well, I was on birth control pills so I wasn't thinking I was pregnant. But I had the symptoms - then after a week of missing my period we finally bought a home pregnancy test and I took it. As soon as the lines came up, indicating that I was indeed pregnant, my hubby and I were rather stunned at first because we were not expecting it to be positive. Then we got excitd and started talking about what we should do next. It was Sunday night so we had to wait till the next day to call my OB-GYN for that first prenatal appointment. We called and they asked us what it was for. When we told them that we got a positive on an ept stick, they made the appointment right away. I used 2 ept sticks by the way. Since this was going to be our first baby and first pregnancy, we wanted to make sure that we were really pregnant before telling anybody. After we got the confirmation from the doctor that we were indeed pregnant, we told our immediate family at first - my in-laws and my family. Then we started telling a few relatives - aunts and uncles - then eventually our friends.

I got a pregnancy book to refer to during my pregnancy, I also subscribe to a few parenting and pregnant magazines to read about it. I started to watch my diet, I exercised, and went to every prenatal appointment with my OB-GYN. I had a pretty easy pregnancy - there were no problems, no complications, I was so lucky. Then nine months after, a baby girl was born and now she's 2 and a half. Very pretty, very precious, and a lot of fun to have around.

So there's my sweet short story. Hope I was able to enlighten you in some way. Goodluck with your writing!

After 11yrs we didnt think we could have kids so when I felt pregnancy symptoms I bought an "EPT" but didnt tell my husband. The readings on the window were hard to read so I finally told my husband what I was doing & ask him to read the direction & compare it to the stick. He couldn't figure it out either. We decided, rather than buy another EPT, to make a Dr. appt the following morn. Next day, my hubby put me in the car, gave me a reassuring kiss, and said, "Dont worry honey. It'll be negative." I didnt know how to take that. What if it were positive? Did he not want a child? Did he just say that to try to reassure me? I just didnt know what to think about those last words. Long story short, the test was postive and we were extremely stunned. I didnt know if we should be happy or afraid. We had finally accepted the fact that we would never have kids & now BAM! We're gonna have a baby! I had morning sickness (afternoon sickness & night sickness) through out the entire pregnancy. I barely gained any weight. Our baby boy was born full-term but weighed only 51bs 9oz. He's now nearly 8mos old and is a healthy 18 lbs. We both feel so incredibly blessed to have our little boy in our lives. Wouldnt have it any other way!

Take a pregnancy test.

Then I tried to calculate how far along I was. If it was really recent, I would wait another week and take a second test. If it had been a while I pretty much trusted the first result.

Then you call the obgyn office, and they will ask when your last period ended. Then they will set up your appointment to confirm your pregnancy, get you on your prenatal vitamins, etc.

You might take another test to make sure--some kits come with two. Make an appointment to see a doctor. Many wait to announce their pregnancy until it is 3 months along or so, since there is a chance that you might miscarry in the early stages.

It isn't most likely that being pregnant signs could already be taking place.. I spotted I used to be peeing a ton, and ended up being round four weeks. Before falling pregnant I could feel I used to be pregnant, after which I could begin noticing a lot of these signs that were not rather there. Best method is to take a being pregnant scan. However, to the women who stated that you simply could be throwing up when you have been pregnant.. that's no longer actual. no longer all pregnant females get morning health problem. well success! :)

First, I ran and told my husband. We just enjoyed the moment for a while....then he wanted me to take another test just to make sure. When it came out positive, I called my best friend and my mother. The next day I called my Dr. to set up an appointment to confirm the pregnancy and also set up for my prenatal care. I hope this helps.

Take another home test. Then another. Then call the doctor. Then take another test. Then tell the father. Then freak out and take another test so he can see that it is true too. Then dance around with joy.

I made an appointment with my doctor and then went around with a huge smile on my face for the next couple of weeks.

Then you find an OBGYN and set up your first appointment. They probably see you for the first time when your 4-6 weeks along.
