I was wondering what the average now of a Vietnam veteran (conscript) is? Are most still below retirement age?
This is an honest question and I do not mean to offend, I was just wondering as we have little contact with American servicemen and women where I am from- the conflict is basically glossed over in schools.

Ok man, do the math. The average guy that gets drafted is say 19. so if you take 19 plus the midpoint year in the war, say 1970 (2006-1970=36) 19+36=55. So I would say that a large number of Vietnam vets are 55 and older.

the conflict was 64 to 68 if i remember rightly, and most were 20-25/30, with officers being up to 50 or something.
so most alive veterans will be around 60 or 65 by now, as the privates were usually quite young.

Average age of a conscript was 19. This was in 65 onwards. So ages now would be around 59ish. Loads of sites about the war/conflict.

I'd assume most conscripts were drafted at age 18-19 and that was around 35+ years ago? I'd say they're in their mid to late 50s now.

Most are below retirement age, many are homeless, some have died from agent orange and a lot are psychologically messed up. We didn't do right by those men, Pray for them.

most between 50-60 some older not many younger-less ever year as yellow rain still is taking a toll-keep the peace old hippie
